Our Story

In a dimly lit, sticky-floored Irish bar in Spain, Jess and Alex’s paths first crossed. Amidst the laughter, they shared a dance and a conga line, parting ways without remembering to exchange numbers.

Alex, smitten and determined, returned to that bar night after night, hoping to see Jess again. When their paths finally crossed once more, Alex was so mesmerized that he forgot to ask for her number again! Thankfully, Jess took charge (and is yet to let go), ensuring they wouldn’t miss their chance.

Back in their normal lives in Scotland and England, they kept in touch. Almost immediately, Alex found himself on a train, bound for Jess on the farm. There, he met the animals and gave Jess' mum a chance to size up the funny-sounding Scottish lad from Spain.

Their bond only grew stronger as they navigated the challenges of a long-distance relationship. Living across various cities across the UK, from Glasgow, Leicester, Manchester, Leeds, to Reading and eventually London. They became familiar faces at their local train stations.

And now, here they are, ready to dance through life together, proving that sometimes, love can find you in the most unexpected places.

Most memorable date?

While navigating the challenges of long-distance, we spent a weekend in Newcastle where Alex took Jess ice skating. Jess showcased her “Bambi on ice” skills, creating a memorable moment that still makes us laugh today.

Best meal you've shared?

Sitting on the cold concrete pavement outside Sainsbury's. During a nervous journey to London to find our first home, we skipped breakfast and ended up starving! Staying close to our viewing, we made do with a DIY feast: a crusty baguette, tub of butter, and packs of ham. That house became our first proper home, and for years, we laughed every time we passed that same Sainsbury’s.

Honeymoon plans?

Eight years ago, Alex shared with Jess his dream of going on another African safari, and he mentioned wanting to save this adventure for their honeymoon. Now, it’s time to make that dream come true!

Most memorable trip?

It has to be Iceland! Relaxing in the thermal lagoons, racing across glaciers on snowmobiles, and even catching the northern lights. The scenic landscapes were just as impressive as the geothermal heated streets.

Favourite past time?

We’re both dog lovers, and although we don't have a dog of our own right now... we enjoy helping out our local community. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple walk in the park with an adopted doggy to clear our heads after a challenging day.

Most spontaneous thing done?

After wrapping up long Fridays at the office, we were ready for a relaxing weekend. But after a FaceTime call with Alex’s brother and sister, who were camping on an island in Loch Lomond, their excitement was contagious. An hour later, we were in the car and on the island by midnight!

A spontaneous change of plans led to an memorable weekend.

Dorkiest thing about us is

We love to be organised, if its not put in the shared calendar, then it isn't really happening.

Who's going to take out the bin?

This is currently, and always will be a "blue job" for Alex!

Important part of our relationship

Before we tackle anything important in the day, it’s crucial to ensure Jess has her morning coffee. Without it, all bets are off - she can be quite scary.
